Giving sock knitting a little rest

The sock knitting mojo is on a wee mental break. That and I simply cannot motivate myself to work on my Digitessa sock for more than 1 row at a time. Even after I color-coded all the travelling stitches on the chart.

I've joined the lemming masses and am now a proud owner of the infamously popular Noro Striped Scarf (colorways 244 & 268).

The FO photo will have to wait 'til the scarf finishes drying after its soak (w/Soak!) & hair-conditionered rinse (a little Noro trick I learned on the old yahoo Clapotis group).

My other lemming knit, the Lady February Sweater, is cruising along. I'm using Miss Babs superwash worsted (yowza skein size) in Pookie, but they way it's knitting up, I'm mentally referring it to my tropical camo cardie. It's much more variegated and green than I expected it to be when I ordered it. I'm sure the gull lace section will look better than its current scrambled state once blocked. However, if I do this easy pattern again (provided I just didn't jinx myself right there), I would go for a bit more semi-solid colorway.

And just to keep myself from buying/ordering more yarn 'til Stitches West (Eeek, next week already!) and Sock Camp, I went "shopping" in my stash and decided to use the UEU (Use Everything Up) concept from my makeup group. I pulled the remaining 1 + maybe 1/2 skein of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran leftover from my Twist cardigan and cast on for another pair of Fetchings for myself.

I had considered making fingerless mitts w/a cable pattern matching the Twist, but I wasn't sure I would have enough and decided to play it safe. Besides Fetchings are a fast knit.

Wow!! Look at you go!!! Love all three projects!! I've been trying to fall in love with my stash too!!

Your FLS sweater is gorgeous!! THink you'll have it done by Stitches?? Then you could show it to Woolgirl and Miss Babs at the same time!! I so need to get started on my second one in STR Spinel if I'm planning to have a new sweater for camp!

Somehow I very much doubt that your sock knitting break will allow me to catch up to you. :) It's a well deserved break. I am in awe that you are tackling the Digitessas.

Love the Noro scarf and your camo cardie!

Oh..share they why on the Soak and conditioner for Noro ;) FLS is looking really good in the colorway. Good use of leftover yarn for your fetchings!

I almost didn't see your FLS! (Since it's camo and all...)

I'm so hoping to make it to Stitches this year. If you, IrishGirlie, and Tapmouse meet up, let me know! I need motivation to step away from the packing chaos for an hour or two.

The wash doesn't necessarily need to be done with Soak. It's the hair conditioner that's critical. I think the one knit blogger that gave the trick actually threw her Noro clapotis into the dryer for 5 min after rinsing it w/hair conditioner. I was too paranoid about my clap felting for that short amount of time in the dryer so I settled for putting the clap & the scarf on the sweater rack attachment in my dryer.

My LYS store owner always recommends using hair conditioner to soften up scratchy yarns. I use it too!
Lovely scarf. And I like your FLS - it's very different. I'm currently cheating on mine with some mindless knitting! :)
Have fun at Stitches (jealous).
